Have you any good news for me?"

"Maybe. I saw Dr. Sendfeldt yesterday."

"And?" She gripped the phone tightly, suddenly anxious.

"And..." He laughed slightly. "He seems to think I'm not beyond help."

"I told you not to say…"

"He says it’s not unusual for a patient to recognize the cause of his problem and be frustrated because he still can't resolve it. That's where the Experts, in this case, the Good Doctor, come in. To guide the patient toward recovery. He thinks I can become a viable member of my family. Those are his words, not mine." His voice became slightly wistful. "Will you still love me when I'm a viable member?"

"Why not?" She kept her voice casual. "I love you now."

"Or maybe I should ask, will you still love my viable member? Which is better?"

"I love you, Luc Deveraux. The entire package, not just one part."

Launch Day For My New Site: DEEP IN THE HEART ROMANCE

This is a new site I've created where readers can find their favorite authors and their books, while learning about authors they have yet to know. I wanted to create an easy-to-navigate site that would give readers full access to author interviews, their new releases, websites, and giveaways.

As a writer of romance, I have always cared about my fans. And so, this dream of creating a site where readers can freely get in touch with the authors they follow is what Deep In The Heart Romance is all about. This is a place where everyone, readers and authors alike, can sit back, relax, and take in the simple joys of romance in one great place.

What was formally Past The Print & Beyond Interviews, has now moved to this site. I hope you will hop on over and check our newest author to be interviewed.

Amanda spun on heel and strode back into the saloon. Her saloon and proud of it. Mac trailed behind. “‘Sides, there’s things women don’t need to trouble themselves with. Then a man comes in handy.”

Behind the counter where she served drinks and calmed riled up customers, Amanda suddenly pulled out her pistol and waved it to one side of the old man. “I’ve been taking care of myself these last few years. I do a damned fine job.”

Mac held both hands up in the air level with his shoulders. “I didn’t say ye didn’t. Just sometimes a woman needs other things. Like comfort of knowing she’s not alone. Like some warmth of a living body beside her at night.”

That she could use but she’d never tell him.

Wake Me Up Wednesday

Tom Selleck
Award-winning actor and producer

Birthday: January 29, 1945

Previous Roles:
Magnum PI
Quigley Down Under
Three Men and A Baby
Three Men and A Little Lady
Dr. Richard Burke on Friends

This man, as you all well know, is very hard to forget. As a youngster, I recall many nights staying up with my father to watch Magnum PI and I loved to see the ending shot of him wiggling his brows at the camera with that devious smile. I still do.

Though this man is nearly 66 years old, he can still charm a woman when he flashes that beautiful smile. He's a man who's not afraid of his body hair...in fact, it's what he's well known for. And let's not forget that unmistakable voice he has. I could listen to him talk all night.

Tom Selleck was requested by one of fans and I think it was a marvelous suggestion! Happy Wednesday!

(Oh, and if I get one person on here who doesn't know who this guy is, I'm going to faint....Yes, I am talking to all you young whippersnappers out there!)

Interview and Contest with Author Raine Delight

Today's author writes--as her website states--scorching hot romance between the covers. Her fourth book in the Devon Falls Series, Haunting Magic, has just been released and I'm pleased to announce that she is here to tell us all about it. Please make welcome, Raine Delight.

Tell us about yourself Raine.

Hi Renee, Thanks for having me here.

A little about me: Raine Delight is a pseudonym of a self professed book lover and after one too many TSTL characters, decided to see if she could write something a little better. Well many drafts later, Devon Falls series came to together. It was originally was to be one book but somehow ended up to 4 with a 5th and 6th one being planned for sometime in 2010. I write a paranormal contemporary series for Aspen Mountain and I am also branching out to other genres as I continue to listen to the voices in my head. Check out my book pages to see what is going on with me. My muse is a male nut who likes to leave me to go sip mai tais on the beach and leave me foundering for words; though eventually he takes pity on me and gets my words flowing and characters start settling down.

Personal notes: I live with my own boytoy and two kids. I love Johnny Depp movies and enjoy hiking, reading and watching movies with my family.

What genres do you normally write in?
Right now I am writing paranormal Erotic Romance but I am branching into Sci-Fi Futuristic and romantic comedy though with a paranormal twist.

What genres do you typically read?
It is all over the board right now. I am into fantasy, Romance (erotic romance is my fave) and sci fi/futuristic. Currently I am reading Master of None by Sonya Bateman that is her debut book. Awesomely funny with a thief, a genie who is more hellboy (her words on back cover) and action adventure. I love every minute of it. I highly recommend it.

Is there a genre you haven’t written in that one day you’d like to tackle?
I am hoping to tackle my first M/M romance though I am hesitant since there are so many wonderful M/M authors out there that I love to read. I am just hoping I can write it the right way and not the wrong way *fingers crossed*.

What was the first book you ever published?
My first book was Devon Falls 1: Sticky Magic. I wrote it in a week and sold it in two weeks. I don’t think I ever was able to redo that again *laughs*.

My backlisted titles at Aspen Mountain Press are as follows:
Devon Falls series:
Sticky Magic (1)
Red Hot Magic (2)
Fiery Magic (3)
Haunting Magic (4)
Stand Alone Titles:
Fairy Kisses & Magical Dreams

Some quickies (pardon the pun):
Satin or Lace? If I am wearing it Satin,
Denim or Leather? For a guy, I think I prefer tight denim jeans though not so tight that they are hurting his boys.
Irish or Italian? Can I have both?
Dark eyes or Light eyes? I l ove both on a guy.
The sound of a heartbeat or a crackling fire? I love the crackling fire.
Coffee or Tea? I need coffee in the morning and I have a cup of Sleepytime tea in the evening before bed.
Chiseled jaw line or Chiseled abs? I love both on a man so can I have both? J I k now I am greedy. lol
Mountains or Beach? Oh man I love both so it’s a toss up though I think I will go with Mountains over beach since I like to hike.
Rain or Sunshine? I love sunshine. J
Picnic in the park or Dancing in the club? Picnic in a park is more my style. I never liked loud clubs packed with people. *shrugs* Not my thing.

Tell us about your release.
My latest release is a Halloween tale set in my Devon Falls world called Haunting Magic. It’s about a wolf shifter who has to find his mate by the end of Samhain/Halloween night or forever be a lone wolf, with no mate.
Devon Falls 4: Haunting Magic

Paranormal/Wolf Shifter Erotic Romance
A werewolf claims his mate in Devon Falls.

Rodrick Dracon is the twin heir to the Dragon Inn. When he finds himself longing for a mate after being footloose and fancy free, he finds himself drawn to the most obnoxious, brassy woman he has ever met: Jaxon Sinclair. She is the one woman who doesn't melt when he goes by or hangs on his every word. She is just aggravating and down right sexy as sin! Soon the sparks fly, passion goes into boiling and Halloween approaches. Can a wolf shifter get this woman to heel before the full moon? Or can Jax turn the tables on this ladies man and tame the wolf?

PG-13 Excerpt:

Jax tried to get the chaotic jumble of thoughts under control yet all she could think was that he was hers. It didn’t make sense to her but she felt at peace. It was like she was finally home and home was Rod. Her body nestled and she mewed as he moved off to the side and shifted her closer into his arms. Her head nestled on his shoulder and she threaded a leg through his. She was sore yet she also felt the need thrum through her again. It was like something clicked on inside her and now it was on simmer, waiting to boil again. She had settled down to doze a bit when she yelped in surprise.

Jax sat up quickly, dislodging Rod’s arms from around her. She tried to twist her body to see where the stinging pain was.

“What the fuck is going on?” Jax asked. Looking down at Rod, lounging like there was no care in the world, his eyes gleamed as he took in her nakedness. “Did you bite me or something?”

“Stop twisting, Jax. I will show you what the fuss was about.” Rod said, his lips turning up as she glared at him. “All it is a mark that says you are mine. I have one as well so don’t even think I am coming out of this unscathed.”

“What?” she yelled. His eyes widened in appreciation when she jumped up from the bed to look in her mirror, not caring she was naked. “What the fuck is going on, Rod? What did you do to me?” She glared at him over her shoulder as she twisted around looking for whatever it was that caused her pain.

Rod sighed. Sitting up, he swung his legs over the side of the bed then doubled over, clutching his shoulder as well.

“Rod! You okay? What the hell is going on?” Jax yelled at him as he sat down on the edge of the bed.

“It is ok, Jax. Just the wolf mating brand coming on us.” Wheezing, Rod tried to still the trembling in his legs as he rubbed his shoulder, feeling the raised area where the mark would be.

“Wolf mating brand? What the hell are you talking about? What game are you playing with me, Rod? I am not mated, married, or anything.” Jax tried to not screech out the words but fear and a little something else was racing up her spine as she saw a wolf tattoo on his shoulder when he turned toward her. It made her pussy clench as he stalked over to her, his eyes glowing softly in the darkness. She tried not to step back as she faced him.

Trying to keep his voice low and soothing, Rod stood in front of Jax and said “Jax, you always knew I was different. I am a wolf-shifter and I found my mate…you. You can imagine the shock of finding that the one woman who wouldn’t melt at every word, challenged me at every turn and basically caused so much havoc in me was the woman I was destined to be with. A wolf mating brand only happens if soul mates come together and mate. You are my soul mate and my everything. Please don’t fight it because the effects of that are so much worse, or so I have read.”

Her hands trembled as she looked at Rod and a combination of fear, need and something else warred in her mind. She slid one hand over her shoulder and sure enough a raised bump was there. Shaking her head in denial, she tried to figure a way out of this but if what she was hearing correctly, it looked as if this aggravating man claimed her as his mate and she had no freaking say in it. One side of her wanted to cuddle back in his arms. The other side wanted to rail at the injustice of it all and yell at him that it was his fault, but she knew, if she was honest with herself, she had a feeling of completeness with him she hadn’t felt before.

“Where is your brand? Why me? Why not the bar bunnies you always took home? You never looked at me like that before,” Jax said as she tried to keep from jumping into his arms and nestling next to him. She didn’t quite understand the feeling running through her but she knew deep in her heart this was the right thing.

“Jax, I don’t understand it either. I can honestly say I tried to fight the wolf’s desire but there is no fighting the mating time. I found you, thankfully, because if you were with someone else, I would have ripped him to shreds. You are mine and I will cherish, protect, and love you with all my heart, soul, and body. Now will you let me show you the wolf brand and then warm you up under the covers? You are shaking so hard the dresser is moving,” Rod said as moved to take her in his arms.

“Please, show me.” Jax whispered and moved to the warmth of a man who moved her to heights no other had ever done before. As he turned her around, she spied a small wolf brand on her right shoulder that matched his. It was silver with gold eyes.

What kind of hero is Rodrick?
A very reluctant one. He is the resident lothario of Devon Falls or so Jaxon thinks and loves to needle him on his lifestyle. He is a man who doesn’t know what love is but sure knows what lust is.

Was there someone famous he resembled when you wrote him? Or is he based off someone you personally know?
I base all my heroes on Johnny Depp. He is my favorite actor and there is something about him that draws me.
What are your favorite hero traits that you cannot resist?
Strong, decisive and a pure alpha male.
What part of the male physique captures your attention?
I love a nice tight butt *giggles* but then a man’s eyes are what I also adore as well.

As an author and essentially the “creator” of your hero, do you find yourself attached to him in a personal way? (Can you admit to loving him?)
Not really. *Laughs* I think I would want to kill the man after a few pages and I leave him for my heroines.

If you could actually meet the hero of one of your books, the exact man you’ve conjured up in both looks and personality, which one would it be and why?
*thinks* probably are the two heroes of my Club Fantasy trilogy, Damien and Sim. They are hot, sexy and lovable. Damien is a half-demon of lust and Sim is his lover and business partner.

Tell us what kind of heroes you prefer to write about.
Strong alpha males who turn to a puddle of goo with the right woman (or man).

Does your heroine, Jaxon take after you? Or is she someone you wish you could be?
Unfortunately the things Jax says in Haunting Magic would embarrass me in real life *laughs* but she is someone I would love to grow up to be.

Out of all your books, do you have a favorite?
Actually the ones I am writing right now is my favorite. *grins* though that is like asking me which of my kids are my favorite.

He thought she would not speak at all, so long she took to answer. She gazed at his palm and into his eyes, and then at the candle flame, and the look on her face was almost pity. His heart shrank. She had seen that he would fail, and was not prepared to speak it.

"Tell me!" he blurted out finally. "Tell me, whatever it is!"

And just in case anyone cares to know, Woflskin is my FAVORITE Viking story of all time! Juliet Marillier is amazing when she tells a tale. And I had the privilege of corresponding with her in the research of Ræliksen. Turns out, the book she used as a reference was the same book I had in my very possession and was currently using. Coincidence? I'd like to think not.

I highly recommend this read!

Guest Blogger: Author Tonya Kappes

When I read a romance novel, I will flip back and forth to the cover to see if the hero/heroine looks like the model on the cover. I know we all pick a book because of the cover. You can tell me it’s not true and that you really do pick it solely on the blurb, but I know better.

As women, we love to look at those buff boys-and I do use boys because I have a 17 year old son who looks like those boys-on the front cover of romance novels, movies, magazines, etc…

What about their mom’s? How does that conversation go? “Mom, I’ve got something to tell you. I’m going to take most my clothes off and model for a romance book cover that is going to be in print all over the world.”

Now, my son is a senior in high school and he has NO clue what he wants to do. And if he came to me and said the above sentence I think I’d hold my heart and try not to faint. I can’t imagine how I’d take it. I’d want to be supportive and proud…but…

NO! I can’t imagine my friends saying all the things I say or hear them say.
  • Nice and I am definitely awake now!
  • Oh, my, my, my...*fanning self*
  • such fabulous specimens of male beauty
  • I need to roll my tongue back in my mouth
  • I wish younger, hot men would wear Speedos!
OMG!  I couldn’t imagine women (especially my age) talking about my son the way I do about cover models…So I’m steering him in the direction of business-fully dressed.

How would you feel if it was your son?

Wake Me Up Wednesday

The reason I am posting this handsome man is because he is the one I based the looks of my Irish hero, Breandán Mac Liam off of in Book Two of the Emerald Trilogy, Mac Liam. And I'm making an official announcement that I finished Mac Liam last night at 3AM. Which is why this WMU Wednesday feature post is so late.

Now realize, I have to polish and go through a round of galley edits, but all in all, the story is complete! So to celebrate this big relief off my shoulders, I am featuring the man I have long thought of as I wrote.

Happy Wednesday!!!

I must say, Henry looks his best when he is playing the historical roles. I don't know about you, but I cannot resist a man who wields a broad sword and has a look of intensity sure to burn you on the spot.
