When I read a romance novel, I will flip back and forth to the cover to see if the hero/heroine looks like the model on the cover. I know we all pick a book because of the cover. You can tell me it’s not true and that you really do pick it solely on the blurb, but I know better.
As women, we love to look at those buff boys-and I do use boys because I have a 17 year old son who looks like those boys-on the front cover of romance novels, movies, magazines, etc…
What about their mom’s? How does that conversation go? “Mom, I’ve got something to tell you. I’m going to take most my clothes off and model for a romance book cover that is going to be in print all over the world.”
Now, my son is a senior in high school and he has NO clue what he wants to do. And if he came to me and said the above sentence I think I’d hold my heart and try not to faint. I can’t imagine how I’d take it. I’d want to be supportive and proud…but…
NO! I can’t imagine my friends saying all the things I say or hear them say.
- Nice and I am definitely awake now!
- Oh, my, my, my...*fanning self*
- such fabulous specimens of male beauty
- I need to roll my tongue back in my mouth
- I wish younger, hot men would wear Speedos!
OMG! I couldn’t imagine women (especially my age) talking about my son the way I do about cover models…So I’m steering him in the direction of business-fully dressed.
How would you feel if it was your son?
